The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Monday that federal civil rights law forbids employers from discriminating against workers based on sexual orientation or gender identity. After the ruling celebrities reacted to the news on social media. “We have won at the Supreme Court of the United States,” Laverne Cox said in Instagram Stories post. “It’s very emotional. We won at the Supreme Court. I can’t even believe it. I’m overwhelmed.”
Taylor Swift wrote ,”YES!! Thank you to the Supreme Court Justices who voted in favor and all the advocates who have fought so hard for this.”
Star Trek legend George Takei tweeted , “Today we mark another milestone in our struggle for equality with a victory in the Supreme Court.”
Mandy Moore called the decision “incredible news,” adding that it’s “a bright spot in a dark time.”
