I take a look at the latest series from Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Scream Queens, Glee, Nip/Tuck), HOLLYWOOD, landing on Netflix May 1, 2020.

Starring David Corenswet, Darren Criss, Laura Harrier, Joe Mantello, Dylan McDermott, Jake Picking as Rock Hudson, Jeremy Pope, Holland Taylor, Samara Weaving, Jim Parsons, Patti LuPone, Maude Apatow, Harriet Harris, Michelle Krusiec as Anna May Wong, Queen Latifah as Hattie McDaniel, Katie McGuinness as Vivien Leigh, Rob Reiner and Mira Sorvino.

“What if you could rewrite the story? Official Trailer for HOLLYWOOD, a new limited series from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, coming to Netflix on May 1.

HOLLYWOOD follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Hollywood as they try to make it in Tinseltown — no matter the cost. Each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood’s Golden Age, spotlighting the unfair systems and biases across race, gender and sexuality that continue to this day.”

  1. You've done a great job cover this Ryan Murphy look at Old Hollywood that never was, much like Tarantino did with OUATIH. The screening room your in, is it yours or a set?

  2. The show is terrible; a SJW wet dream… thin characters, glossing over and rewriting all of the injustices oh Hollywood in that time period.

  3. Just finished this horrid series. What a waste of my time. It’s just a long lecture on racism and homophobia, that’s all it’s about.

  4. I enjoyed the show overall – but I hate how this is trying to rewrite what Hollywood "should" have done. Why have half-truths in a story that deals with real history? Just tell the story with accuracy. Way more dramatic that way…

  5. This show is great. If you don't know Hattie McDaniel and Anna May Wong, check out after watching this show. There is a sad story there.

  6. Fantastically fun show! If you like old Hollywood, and have a sense of humor, you must watch. Easily the best new shows in years.

  7. Agreed it’s an overproduced drama but I enjoyed it. I was hooked from the beginning.

  8. great review dave , will need to check this out for sure! , any news on JBs buy one get one free bluray sale this year? usually is in may from memory 🙂

  9. Great video Dave Lee Down Under can you do a review for Cobra Kai Seasons 1 & 2. season 3 released date has been delayed

  10. Hey, I was wondering how are you able see the shows early? Does Netflix give you like a special copy of it or a link or something? Just curious. I am so excited for this show!

  11. I never really enjoyed any of Ryan Murphy’s previous works but to have a story set in this period really makes me interested in checking it out.

  12. as good as this does look overall I'm really not sure I'll watch this. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Ryan Murphy. another movie or show attached to his name has always turned me off. I don't know if it's just me but his style doesn't always agree with me. but since your'e the only reviewing this Dave lee, I trust your faith in this!
